River Oich Carpark

This is a picturesque carpark amongst trees, near the River Oich. There are two very attractive walks of different lengths that start here - the River Walk and the shorter Nursey Walk. Longer walks can also be made by starting on the River Walk and joining onto the walks at the other end of the forest which set off from the Torr Dhuin carpark. It's also a very nice spot for a picnic and is an area visited by many birds of the conifer forest.

How to get there:

River Oich Carpark is in Great Glen Woods which is part of Great Glen Forest. Fort Augustus, Drumnadrochit, and Invergarry and foyers are the nearest towns or villages.

From the A82, at or just north of Fort Augustus, follow the unclassified roads through Jenkins Park and continue towards Auchteraw for half a mile. At the fork, turn left and go past the Fort Augustus District Office to River Oich carpark which is just around the corner. , There is a bus service between Fort Augustus and Inverness that stops at the main villages along the route and will stop on request at sensible stopping places.
