Aldie Burn

(Average user rating5 unrated 5/5)

About Aldie Burn

This mixed conifer forest follows the Aldie Burn. This forest area is home to the elusive capercaillie which thrives in mixed pinewoods such as this one.

Two attractive forest walk loops on the edge of the Aldie Burn pass through pleasant open woodland with scattered gnarled old Scots Pine.  Both walks have recently been upgraded to 'Countryside for All' standards.

Please note that harvesting operations are currently underway to the north of these walks, therefore, please do not approach working machinery.

Thank you for your co-operation.

How to get there:

Aldie Burn is part of Easter Ross. Tain is the nearest town or village.

From the A9 Tain Bypass, take the road signposted Scotsburn. About two miles down this road, turn right, following Forest Enterprise signs for the forest walk.
