About Clatteringshaws Visitor Centre

Please note the visitor centre is now closed until 11th March 2010.

Deep in the heart of the Galloway Forest Park lies Clatteringshaws Visitor Centre, a good starting point for your journey of discovery.

Situated on the shores of Clatteringshaws Loch, it is an ideal spot to rest and view the breathtaking scenery, or take refreshments in our tearoom before venturing on to find what mysteries the Queens Way holds.

Discover a huge range of wildlife

Visit our interactive wildlife exhibition in the visitor centre and see the huge range of wildlife you might see during your visit. We are also on the Galloway Red Kite Trail.

A short walk from the centre takes you to an iron age roundhouse discovered when the Loch was drained 30 years ago.

Alternatively, enjoy a stroll out to Bruce's Stone with stunning views of Clatteringshaws Loch and the Galloway hills beyond.
Call in for information on walks, cycle trails and attractions in the area from our friendly, helpful staff.

I was amazed to see that one can fish in Loch Grannoch. I have dreamt of fishing there having only seen it on the OS Map and wondering what its like. The photos of the fishing event were really marvellous and the build up to the final brown trout well thought out.
On your site, you list fishing open days (which is good) and you seem to group them all in both months (August and September). Not too much of a problem though!
Well done for a useful site.
