About Achnabreac
Please note that due to recent storm damage all trails are closed at Achnabreac. Sections of the Firetower Trail are open but the north shore section above the Achnabreac car park is not accessible. We will notify you as soon as we can when they are to re-open. Sorry for the inconvenience (as at February 2012).
Achnabreac is the starting point for a short trail leading to the one of the finest set of cup and ring marked rocks in Britain.
There is a small picnic area beside the car park which looks towards the small village of Cairnbaan and the Crinan Canal.
How to get there:
Achnabreac is in Kilmichael Forest which is part of Kilmichael Forest.
Achnabreac is about two and a half miles north of Lochgilphead on the A816.
Turn right on to the unsurfaced forest road which will take you about 500 metres before another right turn into the car park.
Lochgilphead is the nearest town or village.
