Jubilee Picnic Site

The drive up Loch Eck (A815), part of the Argyll Forest Park and the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park, is right by the water's edge on the eastern edge of the loch. Birch, Rowan and other hardwoods lightly fringe the road and shore; across the loch the hills rise abruptly in craggy slopes, forested in their lower part, and with 3 big corries biting deep into the higher tops above. Several picnic sites offer the opportunity to stop and enjoy the scene. Managed by Forestry Commission Scotland,i Jubilee and Dornoch Bay Picnic Sites are both worth a stop off on route. On a fine day the view, looking northwards, up Loch Eck from these sites are not to be missed.

How to get there:

Jubilee Picnic Site is in Loch Eck which is part of Argyll Forest Park. Dunoon is the nearest town or village.

By road from Glasgow follow the A82 along Loch Lomondside. Then follow the A83 over the Rest & Be Thankful, towards Oban, Inveraray & Dunoon. Turn onto the A815 towards Dunoon. Continue on the A815 through Strachur, Glenbranter were you will eventually find yourself on the east side of Loch Eck, with birch, rowan and other hardwoods lightly fringing the road and shore. With the Whistlefield Inn on the left and Jubilee Picnic Site on the right hand side of the A815, both worth a visit.
