The road up Loch Eck is right by the water's edge, on the eastern edge of the loch. Birch, rowan and other hardwoods lightly fringe the road and shore. Several picnic sites offer the opportunity to stop and enjoy the scenery.
Loch Eck is truly the jewel of the Argyll Forest Park, a long, narrow, gently winding ribbon of silver, which at its deepest is 42m. The west shore of Loch Eck offers a very fine long excursion on foot or by cycle from Benmore to Glenbranter, through varied woodland and open farm ground.
The route passes below the 'Paper Cave' on the slopes of Clach Bheinn, where it is said the Campbells of Argyll hid their legal documents for safe-keeping during times of trouble. Clach Bheinn and its neighbouring hills offer various challenges for a fit party with hill-walking experience.

AT PRESENT ALL TRAILS ARE OPEN, HOWEVER DURING THE CURRENT WINTERY WEATHER WE WOULD URGE ANYONE VISITING THE FOREST TO EXERCISE EXTRA CARE IN CASE OF SNOW AND ICE.
How to get there:
Loch Eck is part of Argyll Forest Park. Dunoon is the nearest town or village.
By road from Glasgow, follow the A82 along Loch Lomondside. Then follow the A83 over the Rest and Be Thankful, towards Oban, Inveraray and Dunoon. Turn onto the A815 towards Dunoon.
After passing through Strachur and Glenbranter, you will reach the Loch Eck.
