Cambus O' May

About Cambus O' May

Cambus O'May is one of those places that you will want to visit again and again. It has lochans, bridges and winding trails through the Scots Pine on waymarked routes.

We also have some walks for less-abled visitors leading to wonderful view points and past the shallow lochans to picnic benches.

The area has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) for its geological features.

Paths

All the paths within this wood are waymarked as footpaths or as all-ability paths. They are vulnerable to erosion if the surface is damaged. Please respect our efforts to make this wood suitable for less-able people and for families by not cycling or horse riding here.

If you leave the paths and go into the forest during the spring and summer, please keep your dog under very close control - either at heel or on a lead. This is to help protect capercaillie.

Even if you can't leave your car, the views from the car park are terrific. You can see up Deeside to Lochnagar in the distance - great on a clear day!

How to get there:

Cambus O' May is in Forests of Moray and Aberdeenshire. Ballater, Aboyne, and Dinnet are the nearest towns or villages.

Cambus O'May Wood lies on the north side of the A93 between Ballater and Dinnet.

From Ballater, take the A93 east. The Cambus O'May car park is sign posted on your left roughly four km from the edge of Ballater. There is a bus stop at the forest entrance.
