Fetteresso Forest

Some of the trails in Fetteresso will be closed in July for harvesting work. Signs will be put up telling you which routes are affected.

This huge forest has forest walks and forest trails and is very popular with people doing long sponsored walks and endurance horse rides. Three right-of-ways cross the forest, following the old Mounth roads. Deer, foxes and raptors thrive within the forest, as well as the smaller birds and animals such as voles and tree-creepers. This is the largest continuous forest in Kincardine District, and much of the forest has reached a level of maturity where management work needs to be done. A planned programme of tree thinning, felling and replanting will ensure a wide tree age diversity in the future.

How to get there:

Fettercairn, Laurencekirk, Auchenblae, Stonehaven, Banchory, and Strachan are the nearest towns or villages.
OS Grid Reference: NO 750 850

Fetteresso is a large forest which lies between between the Slug Road and Fettercairn.
