Great Wood

(Average user rating5 unrated 5/5)

About Great Wood

The Quantock Hills softly rise and fall from the north west of Taunton for some 12 miles towards the Bristol Channel. To the west of Bridgwater, just below the highest hills of the Quantocks, lies the magnificent Great Wood.

The woods provide ample opportunity for a range of recreational activities: enjoy a leisurely stroll along a waymarked trail; join a long distance endurance horse ride; or discover the forest on a bike. During the summer it can be a great place to escape from the busy roads and crowded beaches. There is even a short all abilities trail here for you to enjoy.

Please note that the car park is locked at 10.00pm and reopens at 7.00am daily.

How to get there:

Bridgwater and Nether Stowey are the nearest towns or villages.

From the A39 at Nether Stowey follow the brown tourist signs marked Ramscombe.
