Thieves Wood

(Average user rating4 unrated 3.7/5)

The medium sized car park offers access into the wood. We have added a "dog loop" at the beginning of our forest walks. They are designed to reduce the level of dog mess on our trails. Please be a responsible dog owner and clear up after your dog.

How to get there:

Kirkby In Ashfield is the nearest town or village.

Thieves Wood has two car parks off the B6139 Kirkby in Ashfield to Ravenshead road.

Great wood for walking and riding your bike but take care as some of the dog walkers feel they own this wood and also avoid the dog trail as it is full of dog mess. Cafe is brilliant and very friendly and cheap. Some people hate cycle riding in the wood so take care how you react to them and their dogs be polite and stop it is the best option. I use this wood at least five times a week and just wish we all could get along and I do not have to have dog mess to cope with and people having sex at night.

Beautiful woods and pathways, however as others have said it is spoilt by dog mess and horse mess on the paths mainly near to the car park, the paths get better the further out you walk. I avoid the dog loop as its disgusting! Fabulous food stall selling 'real' coffee, cappuccino etc

I must admit that around the car park there are lots of dog poo bags that unresponsible dog owners have left there, goodness knows why/ However Thieves Wood is more than that, it is beautiful, interesting and fascinating wwod.
