Went for the first time this weekend to Sherwood Pines it was great. Managed not to fall off or break my bike. Being 30 and feeling 10 again on some of the red route sections. Don't know what people see as a problem with walkers not many about and us and them were all courtious. Will go back soon.

Quote Anonymous:- "" Excellent trail though have to agree with another comment on here about walkers. Cannock chase bans walkers from the red route and likewise the same needs to happen at Sherwood pines before someone has a accident. There are plenty of other places for walkers and dogs but the red route Kitchener trail is not the place for them."" The trouble is, Anonymous, that the bikers go on every tiny little track there is in Sherwood Pines, knocking walkers flying and giving them verbal abuse. Every track is getting churned up and there is no place for people to walk safely.. If only the Forestry Commission would dedicate separate tracks for walkers and bikers/Segway users there wouldn't be a problem. As it stands it is very dangerous and someone will be hurt badly before too long..

SHOCKING! After visiting Sherwood pines today I am massively disappointed with the place as a mountain bike trail centre. On arrival the car park seemed rather busy for the time of day and looking at the people/bikes there I came to the conclusion there was a cycle orienteering event taking place. There was no obvious warning of the event either at the centre or as an event on the FC web site. In addition, the recreational trails weren’t closed, so we set off. During the ride there were large numbers of competitors riding the wrong way down the way marked red route, one of whom ran into the other person I was riding with on a corner causing them to fall off. On a different note I would say some of the route marking is a little lacking compared to other centres in the UK and trail etiquette seems to have missed this part of the country completely with people in large groups stopping mid trail and blocking the way for other users. Also, when are the FC going to impose a NO helmet NO ride policy?? After riding all over the world and working at a privately run trail centre where people would be asked to leave if they didn’t have a helmet I was shocked to see the number of people riding with no helmet. Surely this has to be the way forward for the FC and is common sense when riding off road on relatively technical trails. I wouldn’t like to have to clear up the mess of a rider who has fallen off while not wearing a helmet and I’m sure most SENSIBLE people would feel the same.
