Warksburn

 

Warksburn picnic area is situated on the banks of its namesake (which is reputed to contain gold deposits!) Two waymarked forest walks start and finish at the picnic area. Points of interest around the walks include the Black Dyke, a pre-Roman earthwork and a profusion of water/wetland/forest plants and flowers.

Stonehaugh lies approx. 10 miles south-east of the village of Wark, which is situated on the main Hexham to Bellingham road.

	Warksburn, as part of Kielder Forest, is covered by the Recreation Rangers. Contact Kielder Castle for more details.
	The forest is rich in its diversity of species. More information is given in the exhibition at Kielder Castle.
	Totem poles at the picnic area.
	There is room for ball games on the large grass lawn.
	There is a bothy called The Green which is within walking distance.
