Recreation at Bakethin Weir
 

Car parking facility for access to the Kielder Column and Mirage art pieces. From the car park there is access to the Mirage trail which is an all ability trail. Within a short distance of the car park you can view the Kielder Column. This sculpture is a stack of pink Doddington sandstone blocks arranged in courses around a core. The surfaces have been worked by hand to create an ascending spiral.

Bakethin Weir is fabulous for wildlife viewing throughout the year.Bring your binoculars and you may be lucky enough to see Birds of Prey,Wading Birds, Herons, Cormorants and Ducks depending on the time of year.The area is used by a resident Otter which is seen at Dawn Dusk.
