About Hazelborough Wood

Hazelborough Wood is an ancient woodland site with both majestic oak and younger conifer plantations. The wood is gradually being restored to native broadleaf woodland under the 'Ancient Woodland Project'. The wood is accessed from the slip road off the A43 Silverstone bypass, as you head towards Northampton. Here you will find a car park, plus a leaflet dispenser containing copies of "Ancient Woodland Project News", and the Forest Life magazine.

How to get there:

Hazelborough Wood is part of Whittlewood Forest. Silverstone is the nearest town or village.

Hazelborough Wood is located at the west end of Silverstone village. The car park can be accessed from the village, or direct from the Towcester-bound carriageway of the A43.

we went last weekend too and thought it was lovley that there was little information and man made structures, it was so nice to see a natural forest. For people wanting look out points we would suggest London Eye or West midlands safari park

We went, over the weekend, for the first time to Hazelborough and enjoyed it! We have two minor complaints though, we felt there was little information regarding the footpaths and walks that could be taken in what appeared to be a lovely wood. We would have also liked to have seen wildlife look out points.

Been here, done this? What did you think?

What's of interest

This is a wonderful ancient woodland, and with its gently sloping rides, is the perfect place to come and walk. Try out the waymarked "King Richard's Trail", a two mile walk through some lovely beech groves. Follow the posts with the orange band on top. Some of the grassy rides may be muddy in places, so wear shoes with good tread. PLEASE NOTE: there is harvesting taking place. Please obey all warning signs. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.
