Kesteven Forest

(Average user rating5 unrated 5/5)

Kesteven Forest covers the area between Bourne and Grantham. It comprises scattered woodlands of various sizes, most of which are, at least in part, ancient. They each have their own unique character and are well worth a visit, to walk, ride or cycle around. They include:

  • Bourne wood
  • Twyford Wood
  • Morkery Wood
  • Clipsham Yew Tree Avenue
  • Callan's Lane (TF 062271) is in an unspoilt part of rural Lincolnshire, this lovely little woodland has a good hard track running through the centre of it, giving year-round access for walkers and cyclists.
  • Temple Wood (TF 058 299)is a glorious semi-natural oak and ash woodland in this unspoilt part of rural Lincolnshire. The wood is a quiet place to get away from the world on foot, by bike or on horse-back.
  • Ropsley Rise (SK 966 346) picnic area is a wide open grassy place. The picnic area is an excellent place for children to kick a ball about, or have an evening barbecue. The adjacent woodland is not open to the public.

How to get there:

Bourne and Grantham is the nearest town or village.

Kesteven Forest is in south Lincolnshire, within easy reach of Peterborough, Stamford, Sleaford, Spalding and Grantham.
