Explore Kinsley Wood
(Average user rating: unrated unrated)

Kinsley Wood sits above the town of Knighton close to the Welsh Border.

The Forestry Commission acquired the wood in 1952 and have been continuing the long tradition of managing the woodland for timber production. Kinsley wood is earmarked for restoration back to oak woodland over the next 50 years.

The wood is full of folklore and stories, pick up a leaflet at the Offa's Dyke Visitor Centre on West Street in Knighton.

The initials ER can be seen in the Autumn on the northeastern and southwestern slopes of the wood. The trees were planted in honor of the Queen's coronation in 1953.

The Orienteering Course is currently closed for maintenance

Wrekin Orienteers have installed a permenant orienteering course in Kinsley wood. Orienteering is a great way to stretch your brain and your legs whatever your age. Maps will be available from the Offa's Dyke centre in Knighton. Follow the link to the Wrekin Orienteers web site for more information.
