Explore The Marches

The Marches Forest Area extends from just north of Shrewsbury south to Leominster and across to the Welsh border.

The wooded hills of the Marches. West Midlands FDThe undulating landscape of this area is punctuated with woodland sites many of which have historical significance.

 

Walking trails for everyone

Trails for everyone can be found across our woodlands. Haughmond Hill and Mortimer Forest have surfaced easy access trails suitable for buggies and mobility scooters.

Cycling and MTB trails

Raw Trails for Riders, this part of the country is known for its hills. We have rocky, rooty trails in Eastridge and Hopton Woods suitable for experienced riders.

Horse riding

Horse Riders are welcome on the network of bridleways and surfaced forest roads within our woodlands.

Cafe

Pine Tops Cafe at Haughmond Hill is open Wednesday - Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays throughout the year.

Parking charges on haughmond hill are a joke 1 are you trying to stop people excersicing 2 parking in Pembroke only ■1 all day and there is beaches and sea there 3sold half the hill already they paid for paths in bribes I for one and may others will not pay will park on road if have to , pine cafe will go bust , guess you don't realise that people have no money in there pocket hear there is a recession on at moment . How tight can you get . Sham on you

Was interested to see The Marches mentioned on notice boards etc. when in Ludlow at the weekend. None of the locals knew what it meant. Beautiful area, and will return to explore when it isn't raining !

Had a great time exploring the woods and saw the beautiful Mortimer Fallow with their long shaggy hair. The FC staff were very friendly and showed me the best places to see deer and wildlife.
