Situated on the edge of Lyndhurst, this car park provides a sunny, grassy location within strolling distance of the High Street, New Forest Museum and the New Forest itself.

It is a popular place to explore both Forest and village. Don't forget to give a donation at this car park towards the management of the Forest!

Bolton's Bench is named after the Duke of Bolton, who held the office of Master Keeper of Burley Baliwick throughout the eighteenth century. Walk to the top of the hill and admire a mosaic of habitats which make up the New Forest; heathland, woodland andgrassy lawns. You might even see ponies, cattle, and if you are, lucky, deer.

This is the closest car park to Lyndhurst village centre. It is located at the bottom of the High Street at the junction with the B3056.

Facilities and Activities

From Bolton's Bench there are a number of unmarked tracks which lead out across the New Forest heathland. Please keep to the tracks and if you have a dog, keep it close by and under control.

The New Forest Ponies are wild animals and can kick and bite. Please keep your distance and do not feed them.

What's of interest

The New Forest ponies and donkeys are wild animals and do not need feeding by visitors. This encourages them to stray onto dangerous forest roads, and approach and pester people around car parks.
