Biblins

Biblins is at the heart of the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Set deep in the secluded wooded gorge between Monmouth and Symonds Yat, the riverside fields are an ideal spot for a picnic on the grass. The river is flanked by beautiful ancient broadleaf woodlands - Lady Park Wood, on the opposite bank is a National Nature Reserve. Biblins is well known for the pedestrian suspension bridge built by The Forestry Commission in 1957.

As well as being a popular riverside destination for walkers, Biblins is also a busy campsite for pre-booked organised youth groups with qualified staff (see link on RHS of this page). We ask that dogs are kept on a lead while you walk through the site. Limited public toilet facilities are available between March and October when the warden is on the site .However, it is only about a mile and a half to the amenities at Symonds Yat East and West.

The popular riverside walk to Biblins from S Yat East can be done as a loop using the suspension bridge and the chain ferry operated seasonally by the Saracen’s Head (phone to check ferry operation on 01600 890435). From S Yat East, a steep climb leads to the fabulous views from Symonds Yat Rock.

The Wye Valley Walk runs through the site and Forestry Commission trails lead to Biblins from Bracelands/Christchurch campsites and Symonds Yat Rock. The Ramblers Association Highmeadow Trail crosses the bridge at Biblins. A shorter loop of this trail links Biblins with a small car park on the Doward. Leaflets are sold from the log cabin at Symonds Yat and local tourist information offices.
