Children playing in the water. Blackpool brook. Forest of Dean

A popular picnic site with picnic tables, bbq places, an easy access path and a paddling area.

The Blackpool Brook trickles through the site under the dappled shade of the large oak trees.

An easy access path runs down from the car park to the picnic site.

Please keep disposable barbeques on the rocks provided to avoid any unecessary damage to the grass or picnic tables.  No fires permitted.

To help keep Wenchford tidy for your next visit, please take your litter home and recycle.

Schools wishing to use the site for educational activities should first inform the Forestry Commission on 0300 0674800.

For regular users we recommend purchasing a Discovery Pass.

Frustrated Forester needs to lighten up. This spot is not just for locals, its for everyone. These places should be busy with people enjoying their selves with their families. If it costs a couple of quid for the privelidge then its still a well worth it.

Is there crayfish in the stream?

Andrew jones, 18/Jun/2015

we are not aware of crayfish at Wenchford, if they are presetn they are most likely to be non-native species

oh why when you live close to somewhere lovely like this and use it year round do you have to put up with rude BBQ litter louts that come out as soon as the sun returns and have to pay car parking fees in order to clean up after them repair furniture and provide them with toilets!
