A series of manmade ponds lie in the Cannop Valley.

Located beside the middle pond there is a large grassed area ideal for family games and picnics.

The popular fishing lake is an idyllic spot to view local birdlife, including Mandarin ducks.

The car park provides good access to the Family Cycle Trail, cyclists are requested to stick to this trail rather than using the pondside paths.

The ponds are leased to Yorkley Angling Club for fishing, day tickets can be purchased from the club bailiff at the bankside.  Please note there is a close season in place from Mid March to May each year.

Please keep dogs under control and out of the water when fishermen are present.

A mobile catering unit is on site daily in the Gloucestershire school holidays from 11am - 4pm and every weekend throughout the year.  Silvia Davis Refreshments serve hot food and drinks plus cold drinks, snacks and ice creams.  Specials include Wild boar sausage or Venison sausage on a fresh long roll.

Tried to keep to return roadside path back to carpark. Was marked as suitable for wheelchairs but difficult to folow. Full of tree roots?

There is disabled parking for the fishermen there but they then go straight to the lake-edge, there isn't a trail suitable for wheelchair users here.

Had a visit there this afternoon with my partner & kids, a lovely walk around the pond, Even saw something I never expected to see... A wild boar at the lakeside (I've never seen one in the wild before and probably never will again!).

Just had a marvellous walk around Cannop Ponds on a beautiful, sunny day. Can you please answer a question for me. We saw a bird perched on a tree trunk out in the water. It looked like a Cormorant to me, could this be so? I thought they were coastal.

Jo Ball, 25/Mar/2016

yes it could be they are found on inland waters too
