Broaks Wood

(Average user rating5 unrated 4.4/5)

About Broaks Wood

Broaks Wood covers an area of 62hectares, the majority of which is designated as an Ancient Woodland site and has probably existed as a woodland since the end of the last Ice Age, 12,000 years ago. Broaks wood is managed with conservation as a priority, but an average of 500 tonnes of timber are harvested annually. Coppicing is practiced on some broad-leaved species which benefits wildlfe by adding to the diversity of the habitat.

The variety of species and undulating topography makes this a perfect place only spoilt by the minority of humans who leave their mess behind in the car park, The bluebells in Spring are magnificent! Thank you for the continuing public access despite the messy ones.
