About Rosliston Forestry Centre

Rosliston Forestry Centre is at the heart of The National Forest. The woodland boasts a visitor centre, shop, Restaurant, indoor play area and craft centre all run in partnership with South Derbyshire District Council and The National Forest Company. The site also has all ability waymarked walks and cycle routes, outdoor play areas, trim trail, sensory garden, two memorial woods, BBQ site and observation areas.

How to get there:

Rosliston Forestry Centre is in Rosliston Wood which is part of The National Forest. Rosliston is the nearest town or village.

By road: Rosliston Forestry Centre is on the Rosliston to Burton Road and is sign posted off the A444 at Castle Gresley, By bus: No.22 Arriva from Swadlincote or Burton Mon-Sat.

Visitor Centre

The visitor centre also incorporates a classroom used by the on site education staff,and local groups. This room and others can also be hired out for corporate events, meetings and training purposes.

Refreshments

Millijah's Restaurant serves a range of hot and cold food. It is fully licensed and available for parties and events. Open daily except 25th, 30th & 31st Dec. For times and bookings please contact 01283 538909.

Walking Two walking trails of varying length cover the site including one is fully on all abilites surface.

Cycling All paths are suitable for family cycling. The centre aslo has its own cycle hire facility.
Educational An education service is run from the site. Contact Kate Allies on 01283 535039 for more details.
Fishing Fishing is allowed by day permit, available on site, on the Rolls-Royce Greenheart Lake.
Wildlife Activities Observation hide on site.
Arts Two community based sculptures can be found on site a commemoration of the mining community and a chainsaw carved breakdancer linked to the local afro caribean community.
Picnic There are 3 picnic areas within the grounds.
Play Area The site has an outdoor adventure play ground with equipment designed for all ages as well as a natural play area and indoor soft play facility for younger children.
