Recreation at Ethy

Colour rating today: turned golden turned golden
This little-known gem is a narrow strip of mostly oak woodland growing on a steep slope beside the River Fowey. Autumn is good not only for the Autumn colours, but for the views that open up across the estuary below and the native wooded slopes opposite. The estuary is frequently teeming with waders when the tide is out. At the end of Autumn woodland birds can be better seen in the bare branches above, and woodpeckers can often be heard.

How to get there:

Lostwithiel and Lerryn are the nearest towns or villages.

Ethy Wood is approximately 4 kms south east of the town of Lostwithiel. The nearest village (with car-park, shop, pub, toilets etc.) is Lerryn.
From Lostwithiel on the A390 take the road for Lerryn. After approximately 2 miles turn right at a crossroads – the turning is signed St Winnow. This road will bring you to the hamlet of St Winnow.
