Bishops Wood

(Average user rating: unrated unrated)

There are many tracks and trails to explore in Bishops Wood, and as you leave the car park you will move from a broadleaved area into some mature Douglas fir at around 35m tall, then on into mixed woodland.

The car park beside the River Camel is popular with fishermen, dogwalkers and canoeists. There are steps down to the river for launching canoes. Just across the other side of the river is the Camel Trail, which can easily be reached via Polbrock Bridge.

Otters, kingfishers and dippers are often seen from the car park.

How to get there:

Polbrock, Wadebridge, and Bodmin are the nearest towns or villages.

From the A389 between Bodmin and Wadebridge - at Washaway, turn off for Polbrock/Pendavey. After about 1 mile, turn left at the white fingerpost for Polbrock/Ruthern. After approx. 1000 yards, turn right at the sign for Grogley/Ruthern Bridge and cross the two bridges. You will find the car park immediately on your right.
