Car park
 

A small car park with adjacent picnic area is provided for visitors to this important wildlife refuge. The picnic area is surrounded by wild flower areas which attract the butterflies throughout the summer months.

How to get there:

Car park is in Shabbington which is part of Bernwood Forest. Oakley is the nearest town or village.

Bernwood is situated east of Oxford between Stanton St. John and Oakley. The carpark can be found at Grid reference SP 612 118.

Wildlife Activities The wood contains about forty species of butterflies making it one of the most important sites for Lepidoptera in Britain. Many species of wild flower are present along the rides, within the wood. These are carefully managed by Forest Enterprise to provide the butterflies with a varied habitat and food source. Bernwood is also home to Fallow and Muntjac deer and many species of fungi.
