| Section 1 describes the impacts of cultivation on site conditions (temperature, moisture, density, nutrients), the effects of cultivation on tree survival, growth, yield and stability, and impacts on the environment. Section 2 gives advice on choosing the appropriate cultivation technique for the preparation of soils for tree planting. Site characteristics and proposed woodland type are considered, and recommendations given for cultivation of the major soil groups. An economic evaluation of the benefits of cultivation is presented. | |||
