Super Sitka for the 90s
Bulletin 103
David A Rook 1992
Sitka spruce is the most important species in upland forestry planting in Britain. Tree improvement research has resulted in significantly increased growth rates and timber yields for this species. The use of superior stock, mass-produced by cuttings, enhances the profitability of the final crop. Many aspects of the research programme for improved Sitka, and the resulting benefits, are described in this Bulletin.
