Crychan Forest Walking Trail

The Crychan and Halfway Forests are criss-crossed with many old tracks and drovers routes. Years ago, before the trees were planted, cattle and sheep passed through here from the wild moutains of mid-Wales on their way to Smithfield Market in London. Many miles of horse trails and cycle routes link the four car parks at Brynffo, Esgair Fwyog, Cefn Farm and Halfway. Each are horse-box friendly and are uniquely laid out with corrals or hithching rails. Shortcuts onto the Epynt Way long distance bridleway are also marked. Wherever possible, the horse trails follow old tracks. Cycle routes mostly keep to the gentle gradients on forst roads. Walkers can use both.
