Kings Guard Trail

About Kings Guard Trail

A series of MP3 based audio trails are available to download now, for free, just click on the link on the right hand side of the page.

The blue waymarked all-ability route takes you to see the giant Douglas Firs, the biggest trees in Coed y Brenin alonside the Afon Mawddach. A yellow route, suitable for pushchairs, continues from the "King" to the "Champion" in a short loop which descends along the road back to the car park.

Braille versions of the walking pack are available and can be obtained from the Visitor Centre

How to get there:

Kings Guard Trail can be started from Tyn y Groes car park and picnic site in Coed y Brenin. Dolgellau, Porthmadog, Bala, Barmouth, and Machynlleth are the nearest towns or villages.

Follow the brown tourist signs on the A470 and turn East just South of Ganllwyd village, 200m North of the Tyn y Groes Hotel. The car park is 300m down the hill by the side of the river Mawddach.
