Coed y Garth Trail

About Coed y Garth Trail

A slight detour for those walking or cycling along the Mawddach Trail will bring you into the regenerating oakwoodland of Coed y Garth. The removal of non native conifers, by the Meirionnydd Oakwoods Project, have opened up stunning views down onto the estuary and across the valley to the summit of Diffwys. Picnic tables and benches have been installed at intervals around the trail. The trail mainly follows forest roads and unsurfaced footpaths and contains several short flights of steps.

How to get there:

Coed y Garth Trail can be started from Coed y Garth in Coed y Brenin. Dolgellau, Penmaenpool, Arthog, Fairbourne, and Barmouth are the nearest towns or villages.

Coed y Garth is on the side of the Mawddach estuary and can be accessed by walking or cycling along the Mawddach Trail from either of the Snowdonia National Park car parks at Penmaenpool (4.5km to the North East) or Morfa Mawddach (4.5km to the South West). Both of these car parks can be found just off the A493 between Dolgellau and Fairbourne.
