MinorTaur

About MinorTaur

Under construction between September 2010 and December 2013. The first two loops are now open.

This new trail aims to introduce new mountain bikers to ‘singletrack’ off road cycling. It will bridge the current gap at Coed y Brenin between forest road mountain biking and the red grade ‘difficult’ trails. The design not only considers the needs of beginners and intermediate riders but also families and young children and riders with disabilities. We want the trail, which will be graded blue ‘moderate’, to be as inclusive as possible.

The trail will start at the rear of the visitor centre (watch out for the new “artwork” announcing the trail start) and then it heads off in a series of loops leading from “Yr Afon” family cycle trail, rejoining it every kilometre or so. The trail will be around 10km/6m in total but you can opt just to do a few shorter sections if prefered. The new “MinorTour” trail, just like “Yr Afon”, will visit the stunning waterfalls and Goldmines at Gwynfynydd making it an ideal stopping off point en-route.

As we are building the trail in a series of loops we will be able to open new sections as soon as they have been constructed and settled in. Get the latest update from a Ranger in the visitor centre.

The Eryri Centre of Excellence Project has been part-funded by the EU’s Convergence European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Assembly Government.
