About High Corrie
Head into Loch Ard Forest along a tarred road that follows the line of one of the two tunnels that take Glasgow's water supply from Loch Katrine to Milngavie. The route takes you through a variety of surroundings, from the forest edge adjacent to farm land and open spaces along the line of the tunnel, to enclosed conifer plantation and native woodland.
When trees do not enclose you, the views are superb. Pick out the line of the Highland Boundary Fault through Aberfoyle and the Menteith Hills. You can see the Lake of Menteith, and on towards Stirling, including the Castle and the Wallace Monument on a clear day. In the distance Ben Lomond marks the eastern extent of Loch Ard Forest.
How to get there:
High Corrie can be started from Drymen Road Car Park in Loch Ard Forest which is part of Queen Elizabeth Forest Park. Aberfoyle, Gartmore, and Drymen are the nearest towns or villages.
Turn off the A81 about two miles south of Aberfoyle and follow the minor public road through Gartmore towards Drymen.
The car park is signposted about three miles south of Gartmore.
