Achray Water Bridge

(Average user rating4 unrated 4/5)

About Achray Water Bridge

This forest walk takes you through an area of regenerating native woodland to a timber bridge across the Achray Water. Once across the bridge the path takes you along the riverside, then on a circular route through Achray Forest, before returning to the car park once again via the Achray Water bridge.

The path surface is varied, although generally firm, it is also steep in places. It includes forest road and track, tarred road and a short section of wooden boardwalk.

How to get there:

Achray Water Bridge can be started from Ben Venue in Loch Ard Forest which is part of Queen Elizabeth Forest Park. Aberfoyle is the nearest town or village.

From Aberfoyle, follow the Dukes Pass north.

At the head of Loch Achray there is a new car park on your left hand side just beyond the Achray Hotel.

Walked the route with a 5, a 6 and two 7 year olds. Great variety of terrain and scenery which they all really enjoyed. Took us about 2 hours including a stop for lunch half-way round. Even in late November following loads and loads or rain the path was still very passable and not too muddy.
