About Achray
From the waterfall trail, the path follows the route of an old drover’s road as far as the Dukes Pass. Here the trail crosses the road and continues to climb through open, regenerating native woodland.
As the path rises there are superb views across the Carse of Stirling and south towards the Gargunnock Hills and Campsie Fells. The trail then returns to the David Marshall Lodge on the forest road through the mature conifers of Achray Forest.
How to get there:
Achray can be started from David Marshall Lodge Visitor Centre in Achray Forest which is part of Queen Elizabeth Forest Park. Aberfoyle is the nearest town or village.
From Glasgow follow the A81 north to Aberfoyle.
From Stirling follow the A84(T), A873 then A81 west to Aberfoyle.
From Callander follow the A81 south to Aberfoyle, or for a more scenic route the A821 via the Trossachs.
The Visitor Centre is a mile north of Aberfoyle on the A821 (Dukes Pass).
