The Glen

About The Glen

A short grass path that starts and finishes at the car park. It will take you past the Moose (Mousewater burn), through broadleaf woodland and beautiful grasslands.

How to get there:

The Glen can be started from Wilsontown- The Glen car-park in Wilsontown- The Glen which is part of Heathland Forest. Wilsontown is the nearest town or village.

Leave the M8 at junction 4 and head along the A801. Take the A706 at the roundabout and head through Whitburn heading south towards Lanark. Take the B7016 and the first left. The car-park can found on the right-hand side.

Wildlife

Birds: Grey wagtails are often spotted flying along the Moose, and green woodpeckers can sometimes be heard cackling in the tree tops.

Insects and reptiles: The common blue butterfly can be seen in the summer months and the grasslands come alive with day-flying moths flitting about.

Habitats: There are native woodland, grasslands and mixed woodland here.
