Foggieton Red Trail

(Average user rating: unrated unrated)

About Foggieton Red Trail

This is the longer of the two waymarked walks and it leads you through beech, spruce, larch and pine on a mixture of narrow 'natural' paths and wider tracks.

What to see

The dark, quiet 'cathedral' feeling under the dense spruce contrasts in spring and summer with the lush green vegetation of ferns and blaeberry under the pine and larch. In autumn the russet tints of birch and beech leaves and bracken fronds colour the forest, while in winter the sculptural quality of the woodland is revealed.

If you walk quietly in the early morning or evening, you might see roe deer browsing at the side of the path.
