The Miner's Trail

(Average user rating: unrated unrated)

About The Miner's Trail

This trail visits some of Raasay's old iron ore buildings and follows the route of an old incline railway to Suisnish pier. It goes into a cleft in the hillside from where pillars of the viaduct that crossed the cleft are still visible.

There are various viewpoints with fantastic views across to Skye. Words cannot do it justice.

How to get there:

The Miner's Trail can be started from Inverarish Top Carpark in Inverarish which is part of Raasay Forest. Inverarish, Brochel, Isle Of Skye, and Sconser are the nearest towns or villages.

From the Raasay ferry terminal, follow the road to Inverarish, turn right and follow the road uphill to the carpark, which is beside disused mine buildings.
