Red Trail

(Average user rating: unrated unrated)

About Red Trail

Rogie Bridge will be closed for 4 weeks whilst a new bridge is erected, however trails remain open.  Both viewpoints on the red trail also remain open (Updated 23rd May 2012)

Start this walk by following the path past the toilet block, through a wooden barrier and onward amid a mix of conifer and broadleaved woodland.

The first viewpoint is soon reached and has information panels on the history of the area and the river. Follow the path down some stone steps and either turn left to return to the car park or bear to the right which leads to the suspension bridge over the falls (note Highland Council recommend a maximum of 5 people on the bridge at any one time).

Cross the bridge and follow the red waymarkers up-river for c200 metres to the end of the walk. Return by the same route.

How to get there:

Red Trail can be started from Rogie Falls in Torrachilty Forest. Contin is the nearest town or village.

From Contin, take the A835 road west heading for Ullapool, for approximately two miles.

You will see the sign for the Rogie Falls car park beside the road. The car park is on the east side of the A835.
