Red Walk

(Average user rating: unrated unrated)

About Red Walk

The Red Walk starts on the same route as the Blue Walk, climbing through a mixture of conifers, native birchwoods and then mature oak trees. These oakwoods have recently been restored and are now managed for conservation.

After a steep descent, the walk returns on open ground, above the village of Reraig, owned by the National Trust for Scotland. Here, there are fantastic views towards Skye and south towards the Sound of Sleat.

How to get there:

Red Walk can be started from Former Balmacara Campsite in Balmacara. Balmacara, Reraig, and Kirkton are the nearest towns or villages.

The former Balmacara campsite is about three miles east of Kyle of Lochalsh. From the A87 Kyle to Invergarry road, turn up the road signposted to Balmacara Square.

There is a twice daily bus sevice between Inverness and Skye that stops along the A87.
