Blue Walk

(Average user rating: unrated unrated)

About Blue Walk

Part of this walk goes through forest and part through open ground owned by the National Trust for Scotland. The trees are a mixture of planted conifers, attractive birchwoods and mature beech.

When you leave the trees there are spectacular, panoramic views. In one direction, you can see the Isle of Skye and the outline of the Cuillin ridge. Looking south across Lochalsh, the Kintail peninsula and the Kylerhea narrows make a breathtaking view.

Look out for both woodland and coastal wildlife.

How to get there:

Blue Walk can be started from Former Balmacara Campsite in Balmacara. Balmacara, Reraig, and Kirkton are the nearest towns or villages.

The former Balmacara campsite is about three miles east of Kyle of Lochalsh. From the A87 Kyle to Invergarry road, turn up the road signposted to Balmacara Square.

There is a twice daily bus sevice between Inverness and Skye that stops along the A87.
