The Change House Walk

(Average user rating: unrated unrated)

About The Change House Walk

This is a pleasant walk through woodland along the shore of Loch Ness.

Starting off through many native trees like birch, hazel, oak and ash. The walk goes to the ruin of the 'Change House'. This was a staging post for changing horses in the 1800's. Its renown comes from the travellers Boswell and Johnston who visited the area. The walk then crosses the road and returns through conifer woods.

How to get there:

The Change House Walk can be started from South Loch Ness Carpark in Erchite which is part of Great Glen Forest. Dores and Inverfarigaig are the nearest towns or villages.

From Inverness, take the B862 to Dores, then the B852 to Inverfarigaig. There are seven carparks along this road. The largest is around five miles south of Dores.

There is an infrequent bus service between Inverness and Fort Augustus.
