Nursery Walk

(Average user rating: unrated unrated)

About Nursery Walk

This is a very pretty walk that loops a part of the forest that used to be a tree nursery - growing millions of trees for planting all over Scotland.

It also goes through a lovely area overlooking the Auchteraw burn, through mature conifer trees. It is worth looking out for deer. This is a fairly flat, delightful walk and, with care near the burn and on the forest roads, is very suitable for children.

How to get there:

Nursery Walk can be started from River Oich Carpark in Auchteraw which is part of Great Glen Forest. Fort Augustus, Invermoriston, Foyers, Drumnadrochit, and Inverness are the nearest towns or villages.

From the A82, just north of Fort Augustus, follow the unclassified roads through Jenkins Park and continue towards Auchteraw for half a mile. At the fork, turn left and go past the Fort Augustus District Office to River Oich carpark which is just around the corner.

There is a bus service between Fort Augustus and Inverness that stops at the main villages along the route - it will stop on request at sensible stopping places.
