About Lochan Walk

A short circular walk with wheelchair access to experience the tranquil lochan.

Enjoy the reflections of majestic trees and flowering rhododendrons under the superb mountain backdrop.

How to get there:

Lochan Walk can be started from Glencoe Lochan car park in Glencoe Lochan which is part of Glencoe. Glencoe is the nearest town or village.

Cross the River Coe from Glencoe Village and turn left after 100 metres (signposted for Glencoe Lochan and the hospital) at an old gatehouse.

Bear right at the fork to take you to the car park and access to walks and fishing on the lochan.

i have just returned from a dissapointing attempt to go around the red walk at glencoe lochan ,i am confined to a wheelchair ,it seems that now the f c no longer cater for the disabled at this site. the access to the boat shed is no longer available as the combination padlock has been removed ,along with small sign with the rangers phone number,i have used the system over the years ,i give my disabled badge number and the ranger gave me the combination, has this now been scrapped?. .i did try however to get to the lochan from the car park this prooved to be no use because of the gradiant and the surface. s.m.

The change of ownership and ongoing construction work at the Glencoe Hospital means that access by car up to the boat shed can no longer take place. We are working with the Field Fare Trust to draw up plans to upgrade the access from the main car park up to the lochan to a standard suitable for all abilites as a long term solution. This work will be carried out over the coming months and be complete by March 2012.
