About Flycatcher Walk

This is a walk for anyone wanting to get away from the crowds at Mabie!

Close to Dumfries, this short walk provides ample opportunities to watch wildlife such as the pied flycatcher which nests here in the summer.

How to get there:

Flycatcher Walk can be started from The Hills Car Park in The Hills which is part of Forests of the Solway Coast. Dumfries is the nearest town or village.

The car park is signposted off the A711 Dumfries to Dalbeattie road, five miles from Dumfries.

The nearest train station is in Dumfries.

Wildlife

Birds: The wood is used by Pied Flycatchers in the summer, which take advantage of nest boxes that have been put up by local enthusiasts. For more information about this bird, click the link in the right hand column.
