(Average user rating5 unrated 5/5)

About Colvend Walk

Created by the Dalbeattie Forest Community Partnership, this long distance walk ends at Colvend where refreshments are available and a limited bus service runs back to Dalbeattie.

How to get there:

Colvend Walk can be started from Town Wood Car Park in Dalbeattie Forest which is part of Forests of the Solway Coast. Dalbeattie and Colvend are the nearest towns or villages.

Leave Dalbeattie on the A710, heading south towards Colvend. All forest walks start from the 'Town Wood' car park (which is the first car park on the left).

All bike trails start from the 'Richorn Trailhead' (which is the second car park on the left).

The nearest train station is in Dumfries.

Was an excellent array of woodland pathways but now totally wrecked by tree felling operations. Something must be done urgently to get the paths back to their former condition.

Thanks for contacting us on this one. With the tree felling over, we have completed inspections of all the formal trails through Dalbeattie Town Wood and we are currently bringing them back up to standard. Hope you still continue to enjoy the trails.

Forestry Commission Response
