Ironhash Trail

(Average user rating: unrated unrated)

About Ironhash Trail

The Ironhash trail provides an easy green grade ride deep into the heart of the forest.

The route starts out through the skills area on wide, easy singletrack before joining the forest road to ride out through Richorn Plantation.

A short uphill stretch leads to a traverse around Cloak Hill before the trail climbs again to circle the open marshland of the  'Dry Lock'.  There are some good views along the trail.

For full details of the Ironhash Trail, including a trail map, see the 7stanes website.

How to get there:

Ironhash Trail can be started from Richorn Car Park in Dalbeattie Forest which is part of Forests of the Solway Coast. Dalbeattie and Colvend are the nearest towns or villages.

Leave Dalbeattie on the A710, heading south towards Colvend. All forest walks start from the 'Town Wood' car park (which is the first car park on the left).

All bike trails start from the 'Richorn Trailhead' (which is the second car park on the left).

The nearest train station is in Dumfries.
