Arichonan Township

(Average user rating5 unrated 5/5)

About Arichonan Township

From Gleann a Gealbhan car park cross the public road and follow the old single track through the wood taking you up to Arichonan Village.

The township of Arichonan was the largest and most important of a group of five townships extending to Loch Crinan in the north.

It is still in remarkable condition from amongst the ruins there are beautiful views down to Caol Scotnish and Loch Sween beyond.

Return to the car park via the same route.

How to get there:

Arichonan Township can be started from Gleann a Gealbhan in Knapdale Forest. Lochgilphead is the nearest town or village.

From Lochgilphead, follow the A816 north for two and a half miles then turn left onto B841 for Cairnbaan and Crinan.

At Bellanoch turn left onto the B8025 for Tayvallich. Druim an duin is just over two miles along this road.

From Oban, follow the A816 south to one mile beyond Kilmartin then turn right onto the B8025 taking you to Bellanoch.

Turn right at the Canal bridge at Bellanoch, then take the next left onto the road for Tayvallich for just over two miles.

Brilliant! What an atmospheric place. Fantastic houses and a good place for a family picnic. But remember what happened here in the past.
