Balgaidh Burn

(Average user rating5 unrated 5/5)

About Balgaidh Burn

This is the longest and most strenuous of the three short waymarked routes in this area.

Climbing above the Clyde View trail, the path takes you through a stand of large conifers and follows the Berry Burn. Turning away from the burn, the trail soon breaks clear of the mature conifer where panoramic views of the Clyde, Helensburgh, Loch Long, Inverkip, and Dunoon are well worth the effort.

See our main pages on forests around Dunoon.

How to get there:

Balgaidh Burn can be started from Kilbride, Glenmorag and Ardyne Carparks in Corlarach which is part of Corlarach. Dunoon is the nearest town or village.

From Glasgow, follow the M8 to Gourock, then take the ferry crossing to Dunoon.

On leaving the ferry, follow the A815 south to Bullwood, with access to Kilbride and Glenmorag carparks.

Continue on the A815, through Innellan and Toward to Ardyne Carpark.

I recently visited Dunoon and took a walk around this area. My mother has lived here for 16 years and i have only just found this magical place! I loved the walk and found it so peaceful, and a breath of fresh air to find a forest walk so close to a town that makes you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere. I will definately be walking this trail again amongst a few more in the summer.
