About Troll Trail

Look out for the Troll!!

This trail takes the more adventurous walker across the gorge to see an ancient oakwood as well as the giant fir trees along the gorge side. Climb the quirky staircase at the gorge. Its a must see!

How to get there:

Troll Trail can be started from Sutherland's Grove car park in Sutherland's Grove which is part of Barcaldine. Barcaldine is the nearest town or village.

From the south, west and east, take the A85 to Connel then follow signs for Fort William on the A828. Follow the road for approximately nine miles to Barcaldine. The entrance to the car park is 300m east of the campsite at Barcaldine and village primary school.

From the north - head for Oban on the A828 and cross the Creagan bridge.

The entrance is well recognisable on the left-hand side before the village of Barcaldine.

Sutherland's Grove is the start for cycle routes on the forest roads around Glen Dubh, as well as forest walks.
